A Mid Summer Nights Toast

For your summertime enjoyment, sit down for drinks at "Ichii’s Salon", our seasonal bar open only during the summer months. Relax in a serene setting as you look out at the beautifully groomed garden amidst the songs of the wild birds.

Learn something new and enjoy a friendly discussion during our weekly salon-style session, offering talks on various interesting topics.

Valley Summer Festival

The sound of the Taiko drums drifts into HOSHINOYA Karuizawa, marking the beginning of the summer festival. As the sun goes down, come cool down by the HOSHINOYA Stand as the wind chimes dance in the evening breeze. Please ask the front desk for details.

An old Japanese house has been restored to be used as chaya, a tea house. Join us for learning seasonal Japanese crafts.

The HOSHINOYA Karuizawa(Nagano, Japan) ‘Yojo Sojourn’ spa program has won the Crystal Awards Japan Professional Award for 2012 in the ‘innovation’ category!
Professional Awards are given in five categories, the others being design, concept, manager, and Japan. HOSHINOYA Karuizawa was singled out for its ‘Destination Spa’ special program.

Yojo Sojourn is a lifetime adjustment program designed to "Restore body and soul to their original capacities" .Different programs are available to suit your purposes over stays of between 2 nights/3 days and 6 nights/7 days. Programs are carefully tailored to fit individual customer requirements. !

A Course for Weight Loss “So”"
The purpose of the program is to learn (through experience) the way to natural health through a balance of diet and lifestyle, a fundamental health that resists disease and imbalance.

This So Program use time-tested eating habits to work for a defined goal, such as slimming the body by incorporating brown rice or learning a new, balanced eating plan. Guests who join the Yojo Program are encouraged to continue the eating plan set by our dietician.
Meals are 2 times each day, coordinated with a set wake up and sleeping time.
We recommend continuing your specific eating plan into your daily life.

Depending on your interests and body condition you may choose daytime activities that continue the program forward. We do not wish to place restraints on your stay; everything relating to the program is a suggestion. Still, to get the most from the program and establish a solid foundation for health, we recommend taking advantage of the rich surrounding nature of Karuizawa, the clean air from the forest and the pure, hot water from the mountains.

Gallop through the national forests with a spectacular view of Mt. Asama.
Now offering a horseback riding experience at one of the best riding environments in Japan, the Asama Trekking. Even beginners can fully enjoy the time away from the daily grind in the grand nature.
Feel the rush as you ride the highlands towards Mt. Asama; an extraordinary and exhilarating time on horseback, an experience like no other.

A terrace with a collection of 14 attractive shops with items from Shinshu and Karuizawa surrounded by the trees of Harunire. Take a stroll on the boardwalk by the waters, go shopping or enjoy a great meal featuring the local ingredients of Karuizawa.

A private tour with the HOSHINOYA staff as your guide. About a one-hour drive to Jigokudani Wild Monkey Park (famous for the snow monkeys bathing in hot springs).

A private tour of the historical town of Karuizawa, with the HOSHINOYA staff as your guide.
Choose from morning tour or afternoon tour.
Hours: 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm
Itinerary: Gather at Tsudoi. Go on a tour of Shiraito Falls, Old Mikasa Hotel, Old Karuizawa area (Shaw Memorial Chapel, Mampei Hotel). Return to Tsudoi.

Included: transportation fees (4 hours), interpreter services by HOSHINOYA staff
